June - 28 - 2022

We are encouraging media members who wish to cover the 2022 USMC Junior and 16U Nationals in Fargo, N.D., July 16-22 to apply right away for their credentials.

The deadline for media accreditation for the event is July 1.

This year, USA Wrestling will have printed media passes with photos for the Junior Nationals. Therefore, all media must have loaded a photo into their USA Wrestling profile. WE MUST HAVE A PHOTO IN YOUR PROFILE IN ORDER TO CREATE YOUR PASS.

If you need assistance in uploading a photo, please review the tutorial video below. The video is 1:18 long

If you have not applied for USA Wrestling accreditation in the past, the instructions will be at the bottom of this email.

United World Wrestling will be accepting media accreditation for its remaining events on the 2022 international schedule.

There is an online media application process on the UWW website at the following address:

USA Wrestling has been told that you should also send an email with the request to the following email:

Please cc: Gary Abbott of USA Wrestling when you apply for a UWW pass, so USA Wrestling is aware of your request. His email is gabbott@usawrestling.org

Two more events have been added to the USA Wrestling media application system. Journalists can enter their USA Wrestling profile and add these events if they wish to cover them:

  • Fargo Summer Showcase & 16U/Junior Beach Nationals, Fargo, N.D., July 15, July 17, July 18, July 21
  • U15 Pan American Team Trials, Boys Town, Neb., August 5-6

All journalists seeking credentials will need to have create an account at https://www.usawmembership.com

Once a journalist has signed into their existing account, or created a new account, they will be able to proceed with the media accreditation request process. Once in your account:

  1. Go to the top of the website and click the “USAW Events” scrollbar
  2. Scroll down and click “Media Credentials”
  3. Click the button in the upper right corner entitled “Create Media Pool Request” or by clicking the “Manage Requests” button in your media request list.

Journalists will be asked to provide information including email, phone, state, media outlet, media outlet website and job function (which includes print journalist, print photographer, internet reporter, Non-Rights Holder Broadcast, Rights Holder Broadcast or Press Attache/SID).

At this time, journalists can click their request from numerous 2022 USA Wrestling events. Please make sure to click the correct event when applying. Journalists may apply for multiple events at the same time.

Once a journalist has submitted their media request, the person can come back at any later time and request additional events as necessary by clicking the Manage Requests button in their media request list.

Journalists will receive an email with the status of their media request, and other instructions on the background check or Safe Sport training as necessary. The U.S. Center for Safe Sport training includes watching an online video and taking short tests on the topics covered.

Please apply for the background check right away, as it can take as much as a week to be cleared.

Journalists seeking assistance in the application process can contact Gary Abbott of USA Wrestling at gabbott@usawrestling.org or call 719-659-9637 cell.
