Media application process started for Men’s and Women’s Freestyle World Cup in Coralville, Iowa, Dec. 10-11

United World Wrestling, USA Wrestling and Think Iowa City have announced that the media accreditation process for the 2022 Men’s and Women’s Freestyle World Cup has begun. This exciting international wrestling event will be held at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa, Dec. 10-11.

Journalists worldwide who wish to attend this event are encouraged to apply right away for the best opportunity to receive accreditation, as space could be limited. The deadline for all media applications is Monday, November 28.

All media, including those from the host United States, must apply online through the United World Wrestling website. United World Wrestling is the international federation for wrestling, and is the organization which conducts the Men’s and Women’s Freestyle World Cup.

Follow the instructions below.

  1. Go to this link: https://athena.uww.org/press
  2. Click the box which says “I understand, I am not a NF Media Representative”
  3. Under the list of competitions, click “Freestyle and Women’s World Cup”
  4. Enter your email
  5. Completely fill out the information form, which requests the following: Last Name, First Name, Birthdate, Organization, Press Card, Photo, Passport upload, Passport information, Nationality, Type of Accreditation, Arrival Date, Departure Date, Require an invitation letter, comment. Then click the Register button.

Note: There are three required uploads: Press Card, Photo, Passport upload. For those who are members of AIPS or other press organizations, upload your card. For those who are not, please upload an endorsement letter from your national wrestling federation or an assignment letter from a media organization. The photo should be of your face, similar to a passport photo. The passport upload should be a jpg or pdf file with the information page from your passport. U.S-based journalists without a passport can upload a driver’s license (or similar photo ID).

Please note, media who need an invitation letter in order to receive a visa to enter the United States MUST check the box in the application form to request an invitation letter.

All media requests will be reviewed and approved by United World Wrestling. An acceptance email will be sent to journalists directly from United World Wrestling. All inquiries regarding media accreditation should be directed to press@uww.org

Media are permitted to stay in whatever lodging they wish while attending the World Cup. However, the local organizers have established a room block for a limited number of media in a nearby hotel. Once a media application is approved, all information about the media room block will be sent to journalists. Once the room block is filled, media will need to secure their own lodging.

About the United World Wrestling World Cup

The World Cup is the annual international dual meet championships. The top nations from the 2022 Senior World Championships have been invited to participate. This will be the first time in history that the men’s freestyle World Cup and the women’s freestyle World Cup events will be held side-by-side.

In men’s freestyle, the teams which will compete are the USA, Iran, Japan; Mongolia and Georgia. In women’s freestyle, the teams which will compete are Japan, the USA, China, Mongolia and Ukraine. There will also be an All-World Team assembled for each tournament, bringing the number of teams to six for each gender.
